Makhonge  Nursery school is a preschool for children under the age of 6.  Begun in 2003, the school now has three certified teachers with about 45 children.  The school is registered with the Ugandan Government.  In fact, a recent visit from the Ministry of Education resulted in high praise for the school. In the past five years, we have been supporting a nursery school that provides education for 40 children under the age of 6 in Butiru at the Mahkhonge Nursery School.  The school has been meeting at a local church, but is no longer able to use that facility.  Though Build the Future has been sending money to help cover the costs of running the school, paying for teacher salaries and supplies, we have not been able to send much extra money to help build a permanent school facility.  Since the school can no longer meet at the local church facility, they have been forced to meet under a tree.  Pictured on the picture page are the children attending Mahkhonge meeting with their teacher under a tree.

To date, land has been provided to build a school on, but only the four walls currently exist on the site as pictured to the right.  Build the Future wants to finish the school for Mahkhonge, but we need your help!  It will only take about ten thousand dollars to build a school for these children.  We are asking to find 400 friends who are willing to make a one time donation of 25 dollars to provide a permanent building for the children of Mahkhonge Nursery school to build their future in.  The ten thousand dollars will provide a permanent facility to meet at as well as supplies for the children.  The facilities in Buitiru face unique challenges such as fighting outbreaks of termites in the school desks as well as water damage to books because of the semi-permanent structures made of sun-dried bricks.
